Revit MEP software is a Building Information Modeling (BIM) solution for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineers. It provides an integrated design, analysis, and documentation tool to support building systems projects from concept through construction

Trainees will learn the recommended workflows and basic skills required to navigate Revit MEP and use its tools to create and modify mechanical, piping, plumbing and Electrical systems

Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:

  • Set up a project; produce a building information model of a commercial design for mechanical, Plumbing and Electrical systems
  • Extract 2Ddrawings for construction documents
  • Document a project with all necessary floor plans, ceiling plans, sections, details, sheets, annotations, general notes and keynotes

Getting Started, Fundamentals, Beginning a Project

  • Describe Building Information Modeling (BIM)

  • Working with the Revit User Interface
  • Using fundamental commands to draw and edit elements
  • Creating 2D drafting elements and views with Revit MEP
  • Creating sheet views for plotting
  • Begin a new multi-user project with work-sharing

  • Use Copy/Monitor to add levels to a MEP project
  • Add spaces, space names, and space numbers
  • Creating a Spaces/Areas Schedule

Mechanical HVAC

  • Edit Project Information
  • Edit Energy Analysis settings for the project and for each individual space within the project.
  • Create Heating/Cooling Zones
  • Calculate heating and cooling loads
  • using the integrated tools provided with Revit MEP
  • Apply calculated airflows to space elements

  • Locate Air Terminals and create a supply air system

Who should attend the training?

This training course is aimed at all electromechanical engineers and drafters

Prerequisite:

  • It is recommended that students have a working knowledge of the electromechanical engineering principles
  • Microsoft Windows7, Vista or XP working knowledge
  • Drafting and design experience is a plus
